Why methodology matters for healthcare rankings

The healthcare technology industry is crowded with vendor-sponsored content, paid endorsements, and marketing-driven "reviews" that make it nearly impossible for providers, administrators, and health system buyers to find genuinely independent platform assessments. We built Healthcare Industry Reviews to be the exception — transparent methodology, verifiable data sources, and clear disclosure of every commercial relationship.

Our scoring framework

Every platform we rank receives a composite score on a 10-point scale. The weighted criteria vary by category:

Data sources

We aggregate data from G2, Capterra, and KLAS Research ratings, healthcare industry publications and regulatory filings, provider community forums and clinical user feedback, HIPAA compliance documentation, ONC certification databases, and publicly available operational and financial data.

How sponsored placements work

Our core principle: Organic ranking positions are determined solely by our scoring methodology and are never available for purchase. Featured Partner placements are a separate, clearly labeled position that does not influence organic rankings.

We offer paid listing tiers from basic claimed profiles ($99/mo) to Featured Partner placements ($699/mo). Every paid placement is visually distinct and clearly labeled. Organic rankings are never for sale.

Healthcare-specific considerations

Unlike general software reviews, healthcare platform rankings require specialized evaluation criteria. We assess HIPAA compliance and security certifications, interoperability standards (HL7 FHIR, SMART on FHIR), ONC Health IT certification status, clinical workflow integration and provider adoption rates, patient safety features and clinical decision support, and regulatory compliance across federal and state requirements. We only rank platforms that maintain current compliance certifications relevant to their category.
